Update 1.31: Winter Update
DEC 14 2025
Hello all,
We have updated GunColony with holidays-themed, new maps, new tip lines in lobbies, and a bunch of balancing and quality-of-life changes to improve gameplay in PVP gamemodes.
NEW SPAWN
We have added a holidays-themed winter spawn to the server, which has a modified design for this year.

PVP PLAYLIST OVERHAUL
We have added a new playlist update by pale1 which applies to PVP and Competitive gamemodes. The playlists were meticulously prepared by surveying staff members. The higher rated maps will appear in more gamemodes and with wider player counts. There are also dozens of maps added to new gamemodes that they have not been in before, providing unique experiences (they have been marked with the “new” tag). We have also improved the player count of different gamemodes to ensure more balanced game pacing across our PVP playlist.
NEW MAP: CAGE
Cage is a new medium-sized arena-style map by Mohorowe. Fight in a symmetrical urban area in Team Deathmatch and Free-For-All gamemodes with an exciting mix of long sightlines and close range combat.

NEW LIMITED-TIME MAP: RUBY CHRISTMAS
A Christmas version of the Ruby map. Snow has fallen and the town is preparing for festive activities! Available in Free-For-All, Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Defusal for a limited time!

PVP SHOP CHANGES
We have rebalanced the PVP Equipment Tablet prices so that items now have increasing price each time it is purchased within a match up to a certain limit, but in return, the price of the first purchase of items has been reduced.
Airstrikes will be cheaper than before to buy for the first time, but quite a bit more expensive to purchase many times in a match, especially for area-denial airstrikes. Non-airstrike items will become cheaper in general and their maximum price will now match the previous purchase price of the item.

This change serves three purposes:
- It reduces the effectiveness of exclusively purchasing area-denial airstrikes and spamming them constantly in a match to spawnkill or clog up objectives
- It increases the diversity of shop items being purchased in PVP, so that more shop items are used by players, rather than mostly airstrikes being purchased
- It reduces the gap between how many shop items can be purchased by newer players with fewer kills, and more experienced players with more kills, which helps reduce snowballing and frustration by newer players.
- You are still rewarded heavily for large killstreaks though, especially if you purchase a wide variety of different items throughout a match.
- Overall, we expect that experienced players can purchase a similar amount of items to before, but new players will be able to purchase a significantly higher amount of items than before
Here is the exact list of changed prices in PVP:
- Mortar Barrage: old – $2000, new – $1500, increases by $500 each purchase up to $3500
- A-10 Airstrike: old – $2500, new – $2000, increases by $250 each purchase up to $3000
- Drone Strike: old – $3000, new – $2000, increases by $500 each purchase up to $4000
- Cluster Strike: old – $3500, new – $3000, increases by $250 each purchase up to $4000
- Zeus x27: old – $200, new – $100, increases by $50 each purchase up to $200
- M202 Flash: old – $4000, new – $200, increases by $500 each purchase up to $4000
- Bandage: old – $500, new – $200, increases by $50 each purchase up to $500
- Health Pack: old – $2500, new – $1000, increases by $250 each purchase up to $2500
- Golden Gun: old – $3500, new – $2500, increases by $500 each purchase up to $3500
- Reloadable Mini-Nuke: unchanged at $42000
These changes do not affect the special shop in the Overpowered scenario at this time.

- Now properly spelled as anti-materiel
- Pistols are cheap sidearms which can be used alongside a primary weapon.
- “which” replaced with “that”
- Shotguns are rather unforgiving but have demolishing close range power.
- “demolishing” replaced with “devastating”
- The Recoil Control stat also affects flinch for Sniper and Marksman Rifles.
- This tip now only appears in PVP and Competitive and no longer appears in Mob-Arena
- Right click the Shop to purchase weapons.
- Replaced by “Right click the Equipment Tablet to purchase items.“
- Trying to buy a Laser-451 would be a most impractical thing to do.
OTHER CHANGES
Added quality-of-life changes to the PVP shop alongside the latest balancing.
- Added some Quality-of-Life fixes to item management in PVP, reducing cases where players have to manually move items in the inventory after purchasing them
- Items purchased from the PVP Shop will now stack with existing items wherever possible
- Note that bought Bandages still do not stack with Bandages given when spawning
- Items purchased from the PVP Shop can now occupy any slot from the 4th slot, instead of the 8th slot
- When respawning, any “soulbound” items (items purchased from PVP shop) are now also restored in any slot after the 4th slot. This is done after giving grenades to the player
- Items purchased from the PVP Shop will now stack with existing items wherever possible
- If an item is purchased from the PVP shop or otherwise is kept upon death, there will now be a line in the item lore saying so when hovering over the item
- This is to explain why the bandages purchased from the PVP shop do not stack with ones the player spawns with if equipped in their loadout
Other changes:
- The holidays playlist has been enabled
- The community maps playlist is temporarily removed to emphasize the new playlist update to official maps
- In PVP we are now using proper code to multiply the chance to appear of new maps by 3x, instead of copying the new map 3 times.
- The code to configure it has been in the codebase for a long time but we had forgotten about it
BUG FIXES
We have fixed a few miscellaneous long-standing bugs in the game as part of this update.
- Fixed a long-standing bug where players in Mob-Arena did not drop their inventory items on death
- Now, players will drop all items except for those in their starting kit
- In Mob-Arena, buying an Additional Loadout now properly lets you drop items in your original loadout
- Added defensive code to ensure that when giving a Bomb, Wirecutters or Defusal Kit in Competitive, if there is already an item in that slot that is not a defusal kit, the existing item will be moved into the first available slot into the player inventory instead of being deleted
- This should not matter in current gamemodes but might prevent issues in future gamemodes or mutated gamemodes
