Update 1.18.1: The Horde

Hello all,

In this zombie-themed minor update, we are adding to Mob-Arena a true horde map unlike any other in GunColony! Prepare for your Last Stand against hundreds of enemies per wave and also enjoy a new dynamic Zombie Siege map and general improvements to Mob-Arena.

NEW MAP: LAST STAND

Hordes of zombies have overrun the city, and human survivors have to make a last stand in a shopping mall. This is our first true horde Mob-Arena map inspired by World War Z, and has the same difficulty rating as Haunted making it one of the hardest maps in GunColony.

This Mob-Arena is very different from other maps in terms of gameplay:

  • This map has double the maximum mob limit as other maps, and the longest delay between waves of all Mob-Arena maps
  • Hundreds of fast-moving zombies will constantly spawn for 45 seconds every wave, in addition to special ambushes
  • You will only earn 60% the usual money gain for defeating each mob in this map (to reduce imbalance from shop explosives)
  • It is the first map to make use of multiple new features in Mob-Arena, such as Jump Pads, item drop teleporting, and breakable glass!
  • Grenades and airstrikes are your friend! Watch out, though, as loot can be blown up by Bomber enemies!

NEW MAP: WARD

Ward is an asymmetrical Zombie Siege map built by MontanaMob (originally for the Halloween event).

The Zombie team spawns in a vent system above the map that is inaccessible to the Human team. The entire map is normally devoid of light; however, lamps will turn on from movement of nearby players, including zombies in vents.

AUTUMN SPAWN

Following the end of Halloween season, we have added an Autumn-themed spawn for the next month!

NEW DIFFICULTY MENU

The difficulty voting menu will now show donor-exclusive difficulties in a separate row for donor players. Non-donor players will no longer see the additional difficulties since donor ranks cannot be purchased right now.

MOB-ARENA CHANGES

  • Added head hitbox to Giants
  • Added the ability to spawn pillagers with crossbows
  • Increased mob follow range from 80 to 100 to account for longer distances in the new map
    • This should also reduce the amount of mobs not finding a target in the Mob-Arena Gasstation arena
    • This may cause more lag than before
  • Players in the “spectator” area in the wrong world are now teleported into the arena world
    • This prevents a case where the player remains in the server spawn and the arena kicks them when they respawn
  • Reduced displayed difficulty of the Nautilus map on Expert difficulty (no changes to the actual map itself)

OTHER CHANGES

  • Removed BellTower from Defusal mode due to balance concerns, but it is still available in TDM Random Spawns
  • Removed the Halloween seasonal playlist
  • Added a few Airsoft Scenario maps into the permanent Arcade scenario rotation. They will appear rarely compared to other maps
  • Added a killzone to the Ballistic map if you fall into the missile launch tube

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a bug where the Mob-Arena difficulty voting GUI does not work properly in the SignalHill map
