A Reminder About Other Players Using Cheats.

Hello all.

For the past few months, our team has noticed an increase in toxicity supposedly caused by in-game cheating, otherwise known as "hacking." Our team has banned 5 players for cheating in the month of October. However, it is believed that many players have not been caught. Instead, players get worked up or start to complain, which is why this announcement is being made.

First and foremost, if you believe someone is cheating, please do not call them out. This will only cause an unsafe atmosphere and it may get you in trouble. Furthermore, nothing will be done about the suspect. We do not punish players based off of accusations. Asking other players if the suspect looks fishy will not work either*. The best thing to do is to get evidence via recording software to prove the player is actually cheating. (I do admit I have made these mistakes in the past.) Below s a precaution in the event of a user having cheats activated.

The most efficient option for catching a cheater is using recording software. There are varieties of programs to use. Once you have downloaded one that you like, play around with it so you will know what to do and quickly take action. It is recommended that you find yourself a game recorder so you can record Minecraft while in fullscreen to make the video quality sharp. Also, make sure to create a hotkey to start and stop the recording to prevent the hassle of having to minimize/maximize windows. Please keep in mind to not let players know that you are recording. The suspect may turn off their cheats so they do not get caught.

To catch a cheater in-game, try to vote for elimination or defusal. Before a round begins, leave the game then re-join so that you are in spectator mode. Now go up to the suspect and left click them so you can see what they see (if the user is using an obvious movement cheat such as flying and/or wallclimb, exempt this step.) Make sure you set a hotkey to highlight players in spectator mode in the controls. If the suspect is shooting at highlighted players through walls or is waiting for a player to come into view with no knowledge of the player existing in that area, they could be using ESP.

If you believe you have a solid clip(s) of the person using cheats, please upload the video to a website where anyone can view it using a link. You can create a youtube account or you may upload the video file to Mediafire. Once that is done, copy the link to paste it into a player report to have it reviewed by our staff team.

If for any reason you can not get recording software or your recording software is not working properly, try to DM a staff member (not a tbuilder/builder) who is online either in-game or on the discord. If they are not available, try another staff member. *If all online staff is not available, try asking another player that you know for sure can help.

Again, please do not take a situation involving a cheater the wrong way by accusing them. That is not how we want our community to act. Please just record them using cheats and/or report them to our staff team. This is the best way to solve the situation so that everyone can enjoy playing on the server.

Thank You - GunColony Staff Team.
