How to correctly format on this forum (Tutorial)

Post by Breaks » 1 year ago

UPDATE: I copy and pasted this thread from the [newest] legacy forum. Almost everything from the old thread is on here, except for some BBCodes that no longer work due to updating the forum to a different (and better imo) software.

Hello everyone, today I introduce to you the art of correct formatting. This means that you properly use tools to make bold, italic, or underlined text. This also means you can create a code function to show off code you've made, or even a list. BBCode formatting is your friend, and I promise that if you read this, it will be nowhere near to being your foe!

Let's get started:

Text Formatting
The Normal Stuff
Bold Text - Should look like:

Code: Select all

[b] Text you want to make bold [/b]
Italicized Text - Should look like:

Code: Select all

[i] Text you want to make italicized [/i]
Underlined Text - Should look like:

Code: Select all

[u] Text you want to make underlined [/u]
---------------------

The More Advanced Stuff
Colored Text - Should look like:

Code: Select all

[color=red] Text you want to make colorful [/color]
or

Code: Select all

[color=#FF0000] Text you want to want to make colorful [/color]
Sized Text - Should look like:

Code: Select all

[size=120] Text you want to make HUGE [/size]
NOTE: 100 is normal text size. Anything above is bigger, anything below is smaller.

---------------------

Quotes
Breaks wrote: This is a quoted text
- Should look like:

Code: Select all

[quote="Breaks"] Text you want to make into a quote [/quote]
---------------------

Code

Code: Select all

echo This is a code text
- Should look like:

Code: Select all

[code] Text you want to put into a code area
Please put "[/code]" at the end of your code area so it will end correctly.

---------------------

Lists
  • This
  • Is
  • An Unordered
  • List
To create an unordered list, you use:

Code: Select all

[list][/list]
and define each item within the list using:

Code: Select all

[*]
Ordered List
  1. This
  2. Is
  3. An Ordered
  4. List
To create an ordered list, you use:

Code: Select all

[list=1][/list]
to create a numbered list, or alternatively:

Code: Select all

[list=a][/list]
for an alphabetical list.

---------------------

Links
This is a text linked to a website - Should look like:

Code: Select all

[url=<site link>] Text you want to hide the link with [/url]
or alternatively:

Code: Select all

[url] <site link> [/url]
---------------------

Images
Image

Use:

Code: Select all

[img] <image link> [/img]
to show an image.
Make sure to only use this like:

Code: Select all

[img] <image link>
as it doesn't work any other way.

---------------------

Spoilers
Title Of Your SpoilerShow
Text inside the spoiler
Use:

Code: Select all

[spoiler=<Title>] <Text> [/spoiler]
Spoilers are different from what they were on the last forum. This time, instead of blurring text, it actually acts as a normal forum spoiler. (They act more like the detail BBCode from the last forum.)

---------------------

Media (Videos)

Use: Click on the play button-looking icon where the rest of the other icons are in this general region:

---------------------

Centering Text Kachow Use:

Code: Select all

[align=<left|center|right|justify>] <Text> [/align]
Thank you for your time, and I hope you find this thread to be helpful while writing some awesome threads!

I'll definitely look into adding more stuff to this, but I'm tired of writing right now so I'm going to take a quick Breaks.

Cheers,
- Breaks
